FOUNDING HARDERS
1933.
The Harders brand of premium syrups, extracts, and colors was founded in 1933 in a small shop on Nuuanu Ave by Hans Harders, the son of then famous Brew Master and chemist Hartwig Harders from Milwaukee. Hans saw the need for premium syrups for the island’s many soda fountain shops; a result of prohibition. Over the years Hans made the Harders brand a trusted name in Hawaii households and buisnesses. In 1951, Harders Co. moved to a larger facility on Queen Street in Honolulu and expanded operations to other islands to meet the ever growing demand. Through Hans Harders passion, pride, and commitment to quality, he was able to sow the seeds for a brand and products that would last for many generations.
